Cast Drawing and Sight Size Method

Posted on Sep 15, 2015 in Charcoal, Sketchbook | 0 comments

I purchased two books recently Classical Drawing Atelier: A Contemporary Guide to Traditional Studio Practice and Classical Painting Atelier: A Contemporary Guide to Traditional Studio Practice. I purchased them because I studies fine art at Boston University which has a very traditional program based on the old masters’ methods, not quite Atelier but much of their program borrowed these methods. While I was studying there I felt my artwork improved substantially and I wanted to employ them again as I work my way back to painting.

One of the lessons focuses on cast drawing and using the sight size method. I won’t go into the sight size method but here is a great demonstration by Tim McGuire and Artist Daily.
